Nelumbo
nucifera(family: Nymphaeaceae) Japanese name: hasu This plant is perennial water plant. There are two opinions, one is that origin of this plant is India and came through Chaina to Japan, the other is that this plant is Japanese native plant because its seed is found from diluvium of Kyoto. Japanese name Hasu is corrupted from Hachisu, and Hachisu means the bee's nest, the sack of this seed looks like bee's nest. |
