· Joe takes 16 bars solo on "Movin' Along"
The liner note said . . . '[ recorded on June 10, 1947. Personnel are unknown but including Stubby Pastor-(trumpet); Less Burness-(piano)]'
· I think Joe might play on 12, too. But there is no credits about personnel on it.
· Circle Records(1206 Decatur St., New Orleans Louisiana 70116) issued "Tony Pastor And His Orchestra 1945-1950"(CCD-121). The contents are different from the LP but it includes "Movin' Along"(same track as the LP)

· (note on Jan. 29, 2000) I found the LP titled 'Tony Pastor And His Orchestra "The 1947 Band" Live'(Fanfare Records #42-142) in late 1999. It has an alternate take of "Movin' Along". There are no information about players, but I believe the guitar player on the truck is Joe. He took 16 bars solo on there. And You can hear great guitar solo on "Young Idea", too. I believe it must be Joe, too.

I've tried to find Tony Pastor's record these years because I read an interview on "Guitar Magazine"(Japanese edition) and in which Joe answered to the interviewer,
"I remember recording with Tony Pastor. Somebody gave me a tape and I'm playing 8 tunes."
The interview was very interesting but there are some wrong translations, too.

Once, I asked to Joe about the recording with T. Pastor. His answer was "I played with Tony Pastor then. But the only thing that might be on record is a Radio Broadcast."

'Tony Pastor And His Orchestra "The 1947 Band" Live' is just from Radio Broadcast!! But I couldn't find 8 tunes which has guitar solo.

Recently, Shinichiro Sekiguchi, an editor of Guitar Magazine, asked me to introduce this web site on the magazine. I said "yes" and asked him about the interviewer with Joe Pass, because I want to read ORIGINAL interview manuscript. He kindly let me know the address of the interviewer, named Tom Forsythe.
Tom gave me a great information about the interview. Joe answered to him,
"I remember recording with Tony Pastor. Somebody gave me a tape and I'm playing 8 bars."
"8 bars" is right !!. (the translation was wrong !!) Actually Joe plays 16 bars but on the second half is a kind of riff. So it is right if Joe said that he played 8 bars solo.
Now I believe this is the tune which Joe mentioned on the magazine. And I think that Joe might have no chance to listen other tunes with T. Pastor. (Thanks a lot ! Shinichiro & Tom)

· Living Era (Sanctuary Records Group Limited/ www.sanctuaryclassics.com) issued "Mr. Pastor Goes To Town" (CD AJA 5683) in late 2007.
It is the compilation album from 26 original mono recordings 1937-1950. It has personnel date of each songs, and there are 2 titles which Joe Pass took part in.
21. Your Red Wagon 22.Grieving For You
Tony Pastor-(vo on 21), Rosemary Clooney-(vo on 22) Charles Trotta- (cl); Stubby Pastor, Don Gerci, Ray Trotta, Chris Griffin-(tp); Dave Maser, Russ Sonyon, Hicks Henderson-(tb); Gene Cipriano, Nino Palotti, James Petrucci Jr, Max Perkins, John Habuko-(reeds); Les Burness-(p); Joe Pass-(g); Trigger Alpert-(b); Henry Guidotti-(ds): Recorded 29th September 1947.
. . . Yes, I can hear Joe like intro at 22, but can not find it on 21. And I can hear same Joe like intro at 23. You Started Something (Recorded 23rd December 1947), but liner note said the guitarist is Danny Perri. So I wanted to know how they know the personnel.
The liner note said, "Compiled by Ray Crick and David Lennick. Transfers from original 78s by David Lennick from his own collection and that of Peter Doyle."
Then I could find David Lennick's address luckily, and asked him how did he could know these recording member and date. His reply is, "I didn't provide the personnel lists for Tony Pastor. Ray Crick did those lists, and he has a variety of sources including Tom Lord's Jazz Discography."
I have a chance to ask the one who has Tom Lords's Discography, and found the same personnel list on it. So I think above mentioned personnel list is not perfect. Believing my ears, I will fix them. (Jan. 18, 2008)
