1.william jesset (May 26): Dear Joe,
Sorry I'm 3 days late for this, but it really doesn't matter, what does is I am still thinking of you , and I just now felt you here (again)teaching me more , as I'm here in China , with the guitar as my only company, using all the things you and Carol have taught me, and I still recall the time you said to Ray as I walked in the joint "NOW we can start!" .. you better belive it , man... miss you with much love

lifetme. We miss you Joe

6.Jim Frejek (Jun. 19):
Joe Pass was one of my all-time favorite musicians and guitarists. We met in 1973 in Chicago when Joe began working with the great Oscar Peterson. We jammed together in Chicago and in Boston several years later. He never ceased to amaze me with his great ability and musicianship.
7.Bohumil Candra (Jun. 19):
Dear Joe,
I was just 7 years old when you left this world and I'm so sorry that I never saw you on my own eyes. Still you are my loved quitarist and your music goes to my inside. Thank you for everything!
8.Herb Schloss (Bud)-Johnstown, PA (Jun. 21):
I remember Joe Pass as a very young fellow sitting on a stool with his guitar nestled in his lap and playing favorites of the era. This was in a popular night club in Johnstown, PA. and he was still attending school. Most of his friends at the time expected him to move on to bigger challenges, and he did.
9.Brenden (Jun. 21): keep up the good work
10.tim pass(alaqua) (Jun. 28):
Probably no relation, just a fellow musician.
Great music.
11.David Hazard (Jun. 30):

inspiration.

Michele Chiavarini
13.Gregory Fulginiti (Jul. 14):
Thanks for sharing your music with me and the special evening
with you and your lovely wife in Florida.
14.Dave Randall, S.C (Jul. 19): In 1984, I had the honor of lighting Joe's cigar. He was gigging in NYC...I forget the club. It may have been Fat Tuesdays. He was walking past my table with an unlit cigar. I flicked my lighter, and lit Joe's cigar. "I don't do this for my wife," I said to Joe. He replied, "I hope she doesn't smoke cigars!" He went on to play the smokingest guitar I ever saw and heard. He could tune his guitar in the middle of a killer, ninety mile an hour chord solo and make it sound like part of the tune. Another time, again in NYC, I was waiting on line at the Village Gate. I hear some coming up the stair saying "Excuse me, excuse me...." It was Joe arriving for the gig at the front door, an unimposing figure, carrying his guitar. To me Joe is the most incredible guitarist that graced this earth and is the guitarist I always measure all other guitarists against. He has influenced my guitar playing more than anyone else.
15.Mattia Giovanetti (Jul. 24): You was great Mr. Joe Pass, thank you for your music.
16.Thomas D. Leonard III (Jul. 31): Bless you, Joe. Thank you for sharing your soul with all of us.

20.david edmondson (Aug. 18):
to joe your memory lives on for ever
21.Mike Villegas (Aug. 28):
I first heard of Mr. Pass in venerated whispers of fellow guitarists
as a young teenager here in Manila, the Philippines. His records
and cassettes were very hard to come by, and me and my friends
would search the newsstands for second hand guitar magazines
that featured the wonderful playing of this jazz giant. Always
with one foot in the blues, his lines never sounded too distant,
too unfriendly, or too self-centered. To this day I think of his
effortless grace when I play, and it keeps me humble and
grateful that the Lord saw me fit to witness this man's gift
during my lifetime. God bless and keep you, Mr. Pass. Thank
you so much.
22.Leslie R. Pierce (Sep. 2): As a guitarist myself, I had heard the name of Joe Pass for many years, but have only recently began looking, and listening, to the life and music of the man. I am sorry that I waited so long. What a talent. So tasteful a player, and such a great understanding of the instrument, and what should be done with it. Where does it all go, afterwords, I wonder?
23.Jim Kipler (Sep. 15): I am a guitarist from Buffalo, New York. In the late sixties, I was living in Southern California. I got a Local 47 Musician's Union directory and called Joe Pass, thinking I won't have much luck, hooking up with him for lessons. To my surprise, Joe said, "Yeah, come over. " He was living in Van Nuys, California. I took my lessons in his garage. He was such a nice guy and great player, I'll never forget the experience. I miss him terribly. God bless Joe Pass.
24.Harry R Fraser (Oct. 5): I miss you Joe. I will never forget you.
25.Valentin Atanasiu (Oct. 6):

33.Greg Burnham (Nov. 15): My memory of seeing Joe Pass with Ella and the Count Basie band in Miami is seered in my memory. I love Jazz and some of the happiest moments I've had were seeing and hearing the great Jazz artists during the latter stages of their lives.Joe played at a club called the Checkmate Lounge in Miami,FL many times. I saw him there at least 15 times! For a neophyte in jazz the ability and opportunity to see the masters in person will always stay with me. Long live the memory of Joe Pass!
34.Manfred Yak (Nov .20): God bless you, Thanks for sharing great piece of jazz music to us..
35.Michael Friese (Nov. 22): Living in Germany I presumably do not have the opportunity to visit Joes grave. How nicely that I may thank in this manner one of the best jazz musicians for the big joy which he has brought with his music in my life. He was and will always be my mentor, even without the pleasure to meet this wonderful artist.
36.Andrew Dykeman (Nov. 26): I first met and heard Joe at the Musicians Institute back in 1985. I remember other students saying "Oh my God, do you know who that is?" as we passed him in the halls. I didn't at the time but did some research and began to realize what a influential jazz icon he really was. I've been a devout fan ever since. I met him once or twice in a jazz master class and he was a real gentlemen and genuine nice guy.

I was sorry to hear about this great loss to the guitar community. Yet Joe's talent and lives on.
I know it must of been really hard for Joe to survive in the music business..but he made it to the top. An example of dedication and perservance.

I hope to visit Joe at his grave site.
43.Michel Boulet (Dec. 30): Joe was my all times favorite guitarist. I had the great pleasure to meet him and chat a little one time he played in Montreal.

45.j Nolan (Jan. 1):
thanks for the inspiration and sounds.
46.Paul Anderson (Jan. 2):
I remember Joe giving a seminar during the early 80's at Humber College in Toronto.
I was in awe. I recall him saying when asked by one of the students,
"Do you know such and such a song?"
Joe replied
"I know every song, but this is not a concert"
Joe did in fact play parts of many jazz standards showing us his unique improvisational genius at work.
I still smile to myself when reminiscing.

Lately I have pulled out an Old Chord Solo book I have had for many years, trying to master Joe's voicings on "Misty"
