LSD is very nice!
Today I KUMATARO set a LSD with my car "Roadster" .(5/10/95)
Do you know LSD? That is "limited slip differential" and LSD is the good parts of a sports-car.
Now what is different from normal differential?
- What is LSD?
I will simply explain that if your car got stuck in a ditch with a wheel.
You tried to escape! But the wheel turned idle and you never moved out although the other wheel caught the ground.Why?
This is the case of normal differential. One wheel turns idle, the other wheel can not move.
But if you have the "LSD" you can easily escape from the with only one wheel even if the other wheel don't touch the ground.
"Both wheel has enough Power!" ....That's the role of LSD!
- Feel good on the corner!
My Roadster is the last model of 1600cc. That has a viscousness-differential.
But this "viscous-diff" dosen't work enough and when you drive on the corner and you accelerate,the engine power was stolen.
But if you have the "LSD",when you accelerate the car was pushed and pushed.That is the very important for "Sports-Car".
- Easy Drift and Easy Spin-turn!
Talk about professional but if you have the LSD you can easily turn spin. At first you hold the engine toration at 4000 to 5000rpm and suddenly connect clutch. The rear wheel turns idle and you handle right or left. So what magical!? Your car begins to turn around on the spot.
This is the "spin-turn".
You can also try with "viscous" but I tried this morning and I can turn very sharp in comparison with normal-differential.
I did turn with a radius of 5m with normal-differential but I can turn on the spot with LSD.
Like that demonstration,the technique is important but only by the case of this spin-turn,I surely feel the defference bitween LSD and non-LSD.
- How about "DRIFT"?
I've never tried it but on the city road,but I feel stability on cornering.I want to test LSD in the circuit in these days.
LSD is a good system for driving!
Today,on Oct.15th.'95 we members had gone to MIZUNAMI motor land. I had an impression with LDS.Surely I said that the LSD is a very good system for driving.
- Quick getting out of corner.

At first I have to say is that "Quick getting out of corner". I expected that but that effect of LSD is better than my expection.
At the 1st corner in MIZUNAMI I couldn't follow the other cars but today I could. Perhaps I could run as fast as GT-R. That's great. I could speed up and up the end of corner.
(Attention:Quick Time movie shows that I passed the GT-R. But actually GT-R speeded down,so I really didn't pass the GT-R. I mean my image of LSD impression is just like the movie.)
- Braking is also different.
It dosen't seems that brake has the relation with LSD,but when you brake you have the efficience of LSD type of 2-way.
That's the same reason with getting out of corner. As a result, brake is more effective. And you can control when you are comming into corner.
This time I felt safe in the corner. That is very important of driving.
- Stability on the corner.
It is more stabilized while cornering. It was very hard to operate a wheel at fast speed on the corner. But after setting the LSD I don't have to handle much. Anyway I don't. I guess that it is stabilized by the LSD while cornering.
- It tends to "under steering".
They often says "It is like under steeing with LSD". That's right.
At low speed it is rather under. But at the limited speed it is really controlable and you can control your car sliding with an accelerator pedal.
Many people says "You can drift with LSD". That is perhaps not true. It tends to rather under when you push an accelerator pedal.
I totally said that LSD is very useful.
If you have ever run in the circuit the LSD is the essential parts for you.

On the past day I set the LSD with my car. I came MIZUNAMI to test it. I wonder how is the LSD?

Anyway LSD has most efficiency. At first I take you a drift at the 1st. corner in MIZUNAMI. For a long time I handled the "counter". I have had to return the steering wheel in a short time before setting LSD. But I handled "counter" for such a long time!(^^;;

Uh,it is on purpose but I tried to spin and record it.At the 1st. corner where is the most safe(?) I tried to spin on purpose.
After spin I tried to escape and reenter the course but turned over.It was a failure. The later cars passed me. (^^;; That's the shame!

In MIZUNAMI at the 1st. corner I passed the car inside.
I felt safe when I drove but movie is very exciting!
- GT-R is the Great as expected.

I can escape the corner fast with LSD. I think "Oh! Nobody pass me!" ... but... GT-R is also fast.
GT-R had run over on the corner. And I think "This is a chance!". Just then I followed it but ..... he had run far away the end of corner....(^^;;;
After all GT-R must be a monster.
Exhaustion of tires.
I showed the exhaustion of the tires with LSD. Before running all the tire condisions were equal.
Usually No.3 Left-front tire has exhaustion but it wasn't exhausted with LSD. I gess the balance become better.
I have tires of FALKEN GR-beta RS tune 185/60/14.
But also rear tires were exhausted hard.(Tire of No.4)
Because I enjoyed "drift" too much.
