NOTICE: When we started this webpage several
years
ago it was intended as an index to our constantly growing and changing
lists of Lonely Planet travel guides and maps. Then we added Bradt
guides and some from Let's Go, and we now plan to add some from
Frommers and others. Most of the changes have not been
implemented as
yet, but these are really minor changes. The big change is in our
thinking as to what our customers want and need. When I travel I look
to the internet first for everything. I do not need a book to tell me
the cheapest or most fashionable hotel in Tokyo or Bali. The maps
crammed into small pagesize are never very good, probably out-of-date
copies of the free maps available at any travel destination ... unless
your destination is far off track. Restaurants go in and out of
business faster than the travel guide publishers can
write/print/distribute their books. Mountains never change ... except
for the dangers and weather. The best books are often those still alive
at the used booksellers. The changes are a-happening and we will try to
add more books (on Japan and/or stocked in Japan) and maps that are
truly useful for a wide variety of travelers. BUT, we are not there yet
and it will take us at least many months to finish the conversion. In
the meantime you will continue to find the old standbys, some new and
interesting stuff, and probably some old junk that we have not yet
discarded. ......now back to
what we have said and listed in the past......
At IMC in Tokyo we stock the
latest editions
of
the best English travel guides from LONELY PLANET, BRADT, LETs
GO, and others.
Over 600 titles and more than any
bookstore
in Japan. We have most of most popular books in English
and can quickly obtain most other travel guides both new and
classics. We are not a retail bookstore but we do maintain a website
from
which
you can order and there is a bargain book corner in our Iriya office.
The main alphabetical list is long (over 400 titles). The other links
below are to area or subject selections. There is a simple
order form on each page that allows for many options, but you
must total up the US$ prices and convert to Yen yourself (current bank
rate). But don't worry, a human will receive your order, act upon it
immediately, and notify you of any problem. If you are in a hurry, the
fastest way to buy is to come to our office. Otherwise, it will take a
few days (in Japan) for books to reach you. Prepayment is required.
