Teshiodake takes about 6 hours.  4 hours up and 2 hours down if you take the circular route we took.  We went up the left (Mae-teshio) route and came down the one on the right (Shindo) route. It's fairly steep as you near Maeteshio (1540m) and then you've got about an hour of "relatively" easy hiking to get to Teshiodake.  Follow this link (in Japanese) to see the exact course times of the different routes.

Access:  To get to Teshiodake you head north out of Asahikawa and go up route 39 until you get to Aibetsu.  Turn left onto route 101 Go up 101 up and over the pass until you get to the turn off for Teshiodake.  The turnoff to Teshiodake is about 20km from the turnoff from route 39.  Then you've got another 15 or 20km to the campsite which is the start of the trail.  The first half of the road is paved.
