· At the trail entrance there is a building where you pay 500 Yen for trail upkeep.  You fill out a short form which you should deposit in a mailbox in front of the building when you finish the climb.

 

Access: Get to route 275 south west of Fukagawa.  Take route 432 to the west.  Follow the signs to 'Gate Park'  432 is about 20 km long.  The last half is mostly gravel.

Route: The route starts out in a gorge and you climb for about an hour or two until you get to the marsh.  It takes an hour to walk through the marsh and then you climb again.  About three hours after you start you get to Minamishokandake (1296m)  Another hour and a half and you'll be at Shokanbetsudake.
