Slightly more difficult than other climbs due to waterlogged trails.

We climbed to Antaromadake from Aizanke onsen (both marked on the Google map on the main page.)  It was a fairly long hike.  Although it was dry and warm and had been for some time, parts of the trail were muddy and on the way down the trail was actually a small stream.  Stepping on slippery rocks can make a moderate hike quite difficult.  In addition we found the trail overgrown in some parts.  Perhaps the trail was just about to be cut, but I got the impression the trails weren't as well maintained as some of the more popular ones in other parts of Taisetsuzan.

The views are fantastic however, as not only do you get the usual mountain scenery, but there's also an area of ponds and marshes.

The trail leads down through the ponds.

Access: To get to Aizankei onsen head north out of Asahikawa on Route 39.  Past Aibetsu, but before Kamikawa, turn right onto Route 223.
