The Tohoku Orchid Show '98

The Tohoku Orchid Show '98 (TOS '98) is being organized by Kahoku Shimpo Publishing co. and the Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Festival Secretariat of Working Committee. The TOS is held annually in Sendai, the largest city in Tohoku - the northern parts of Japan's main island of Honshu. Next year will see the fifth Tohoku Orchid Show.

The Tohoku district enjoy an abundance of trees and other plants, and is home to many orchid fans and people who are enthusiastic about flowers and horticulture. Last year there were 1,423 entries in the individual division of the TOS, a figure which compares favorably with the JGP international Orchid Festival.

Japanese orchid fans look forward to seeing orchids from overseas (original species and new hybrids). The sponsors expect that the Tohoku Orchid Show will develop into an international event with the number of overseas participants increasing year by year. Morioka Orchid Society is going to join to TOS.
