This temple ranking the third on the list of Kamakura's Five Great Zen Temples was established by the order of Masako the consort of Miyamoto Yoritomo. (The first Shogun od Kamakura Period) The founder of this temple was Zen priest, Eisai. On the way to the hill at the back of this temple, quite a few mossy caves concaving tombs can be seen. There are tombs of Sanetomo and his mother Masako. You can see old Juniperus chinensis trees.
