Mt. Tounotake in Winter

2003

In the end of February, 2003, wakwak group attacked winter Mt. Tounotake (1,491m). Two members could not join the attack.

Blue Route

For Mr. Greenwood, it was his first experience to climb the main route of Tanzawa mountains. From the summit you can enjoy splendid view of Land of Gasami and Sagami Bay.

After light snow fall, they started climbing Ohokura ridge in hazy climate. After six hours climbing they reached the summit. There they stayed in the hut.

In the next day, they took Omote ridge which is a little bit tricky. But they have managed several rocky faces and returned safely home. The performance was better than that of climbing Mt. Kitadake.
