Mimakigahara Tableland

There is a place called Mimakigahara Tableland in the valley formed by Japan's longest river called Chikuma. This table land was formed by three rivers. Namely, Chikuma River and it's two feeding rivers.

As there were no water supply except rain, this land was long been used for ranch breeding hoses for imperial families over 1,000 years. When feudal system collapsed about 130 years ago, this place was converted into rice paddies using rain water only. In 1960, pipeline was finally installed to supply irrigation water to this tableland.
