Hokuriku-Tokaido Round Trip

In the Golden Week of 1999, Mr. & Mrs.Greenwood made a circle round trip via Japan Sea route and Pacific Ocean route to Osaka.

In the first 2 nights, they stayed in resort villa in Tateshina Highland owned by their friend. The location was magnificent having a good view of all high mountains of Japan Alps. Because of its altitude of 1,600 meters, local weather was still in winter. They stopped at Barakura English Garden. It was too early for flower. English Gardner are taking care of the garden.

In the second day, they enjoyed hiking around Shirakomaike lake at the top of one of Mt. Yatsugatake. There were snows all around the lake and lake itself was still covered with ice pack At east side of Mt. Yatsugatake, there is a Yatsugatake Highland Lodge. They visited newly opened resort hotel, Exive Tateshina.

In the 3rd day, they started long drive through mountain range.

After 6 hours drive, They finally reached Japan sea side.

Another 2 hours drive was necessary to arrive at APA hotel in Kagadaisiji.

In the forth day, they drove along coast line of Echizen Kigan over 3 hours. Additional 4 hours were needed to arrive at Osaka.

Tojinbou

In the 5th day, they drove up hill of Mt. Hiei, just east of Kyoto. There they visited Enryakuji Temple having 1,000 years history.

After Enryakuji, They stopped at Kurama Temple and Kifune Shrine.

In 6th day, they returned home via Pacific Route. It was 6 hours drive. Total mileage was 1,500km and fuel consumption was 200kl.
