Overview:
US CDC & Mayo Clinic web sites show English info. about vaccinations
recommended before traveling to various countries.
Several web sites in Japanese provide detailed information, e.g:
* a Chinese-English-Japanese dictionary, another dictionary.
* Recommended vaccines for Japanese working overseas, tourists, and MCFH list; also
* Lists of places where you can be vaccinated (Ministry of Health, JOMF).
Recommended Vaccinations: Some recommended vaccinations include:
Hepatitis A vaccination is highly recommended for "most areas". (¥8,700- x 1-2)
Hepatitis B is recommended for medical tourists; STD prevalent in many areas. (¥8,400- x 1-2)
Typhoid vaccine recommended for China & India. Not yet approved in Japan.
Dengue fever (no vaccine), and Malaria (6 tablets for ¥9,000) are also prevalent.
Rabies (¥12,500- x3) (vaccine may be in short supply, e.g. in India) and
Tetanus (¥3,500-) (& Td diptheria combination) are also widely recommended, also
Japanese B encephalitis (¥7,000- x2). There may be side effects.
Pneumonia (¥9,000-), and Influenza (¥3,600-).
Bear in mind that vaccines can take two weeks to become fully effective, and vacinations in a
series are usually given one or two weeks apart. Ideally allow four to six weeks for vaccination.
