Umi Matsuzaki(Masami Nagasawa
)
She is an eldest daughter of Matsuzaki Family. (16) She is the
second grader of Konan-Gakuen High School. She is polishing the housework
of boarding house of Kokuriko while looking after the younger sister and
younger brother in place of mother who is going to study to the United
States. Every morning, her do fly of the UW flag for father who died in
Korean War toward Sea.
She is called "Meru" from intimate people though her real name
is Umi ("Umi" originates in calling "La Mer" in French).

Shun Kazama(Junichi Okada )
He is the third grader of Konan-Gakuen High School (17). It belongs to
the newspaper and the art and literature part, and the editor in chief
of "Weekly Quartier Latin" also is serving as him. To continue
Quartier Latin that exists in the crisis of the demolition, he acts with
student council president Shiro Mizunuma. To protest against the movement
of the Quartier Latin demolition, he jumped into the fire prevention water
tank from the roof of the third floor. |
Hana Matsuzaki(Keiko Takeshita
)
She is a grandmother of Umi (61). She is a master of boarding house of
Kokuriko. She is watching Umi in place of mother who is going to study
abroad. |
Miki Hokuto(Yuriko Ishida )
She is a trainee doctor who lodges at boarding house of Kokuriko (25).
After it graduates from Department of Medicine of the university, she is
an intern. She is an adviser of Umi. She decides finding employment in
the hospital, and moves from boarding house of Kokuriko. It is said that
her elder sister was Konan-Gakuen High School and was an elder sister and
a classmate of Mizunuma. |
Sachiko Hirokouji(Rumi Hiiragi
)
She is a beauty large life that lodges at boarding house of Kokuriko (21).
She is painting in oils in her own room. Her life pattern irregularly depicts
the picture in her room until midnight. She is the tallest in characters,
and her style is model levels.

Ryoko Matsuzaki(Jun Fubuki )
She is mother of Umi. (38)Her study area is English and American Literature.
She is an assistant professor at the university, and it is going to study
to the university in the United States now. She was opposed the marriage
to Yuichiro Sawamura when it was young, ran, fell, and gave birth to ..Umi..
three children while keeping studying by supporting Yuichiro.

Sora Matsuzaki(Haruka Shiraishi
)
She is a younger sister of Umi. (15)She is the first grader of Konan-Gakuen
High School. She is a cheerful, cheerful character. She is not helping
the housework of boarding house of Kokuriko so much. It fell in love with
Mizunuma later though she fell in love with Shun Kazama first. |
Riku Matsuzaki(Tsubasa Kobayashi
)
He is younger brother of Umi. (13)He is in the second grade of junior high-school.
He is the only boy in boarding house of Kokuriko. His appetite is vigorous.
He seems not to be so good at help of similar to Sora and housework. |
Yuichiro Sawamura(Junichi Okada
)
He is an own father of Umi. (deceased)It is requisitioned to the Umi army
in about 1943 and he goes to war though he went to the advanced merchant
vessel school. He takes Hiroshi Tachibana, Yoshio Onodera, and the photograph
who was the best friend at that time. It is demobilized by the end of the
war in 1945, and he runs and falls with Ryoko Matsuzaki. His eldest daughter's
Umi is born in 1947. His second daughter's Sora is born in 1948. His eldest
son's Riku is born in 1950. Korean War broke out in 1950. His ship sank
because of Sawacaminari though he started in the transportation duty as
a captain of LST. And, he died. When Tachibana who was his friend in 1946
died, Shun who was the child of Tachibana was received. And, the adopted
son makes it to the trust of Shun to Akio Kazama who was his shipmate.

Hiroshi Tachibana(Shunsuke Kazama
)
He is an own father of Shun Kazama. (deceased)He is synchronization of
Yuichiro Sawamura and Yoshio Onodera and best friends in the advanced merchant
vessel school. His result is most excellently called "Our general"
from Sawamura and Onodera in three people. All relatives of him died by
an atomic bomb. Shun who is his son has been born in 1946. However, his
wife died when giving birth to Shun. He died in an accident, too. Therefore,
Sun is received to Yuisciro and raised to Kazama. |
Yoshio Onodera(Takashi Naito
)
He is a best friend of Yuichiro Sawamura and Hiroshi Tachibana. His age
is unknown. However, his age seems about 40 years old. He is serving as
the captain of Koyomaru of the foreign sea route ship now, and the majority
of one year are spent in the sea. When he returns home to Japan, it meets
Umi and Shun.

Shiro Mizunuma(Shunsuke Kazama
)
He is a student council president of Konan-Gakuen High School. (17)It is
said that he is the best talented man in the school. And, he is offering
the expectation problem of the periodic examination to "Weekly Quartier
Latin". The best friend of Shun Kazama he, and to continue Quartier
Latin with Shun, it acts. When the governing body of a school decides the
demolition of Quartier Latin, he decides to go to the chief director to
petition it directly directly.

Akio Kazama(Nao Omori )
He is a foster father of Shun Kazama. He belongs to the ship management
association of Yokohama, and is serving as the captain of the tugboat.
His son is not and has died between after one's birth. Therefore, he is
making Shun an adopted son. |
Chairman Tokumaru(Teruyuki Kagawa
)
He is a chief director of Konan-Gakuen High School. He is a businessman
of the Tokumaru foundation. He takes the zeal of Mizunuma¥Kazama¥Umi that
came for the direct appeal for continuing Quartier Latin into consideration,
and decides the inspection of Quartier Latin. And, the decision to continue
Quartier Latin is done.
