There is no doubt in that, in the 1950s, she was one of the most beautiful actresses who ever appeared on silver
screen. But, after the 1960s, it seems that she came to play rather weird characters such as the one in her Oscar
winning film "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"(1966) in which she was always shouting at someone else
irascibly and irritably (especially at then her real life husband Richard Burton). So far she got two Oscars (both
the Best Actress) and other three nominations. But, there seems to be some controversy about the first one "Butterfield
8"(1960); that is, her reception of the Oscar for her roll in that movie might have been partly due to some
sympathy aroused for the fact that she had lost the Best Actress Academy Award for previous three consecutive years
("Raintree Country"(1957), "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof"(1958), "Suddenly Last Summer"(1959)).
