There seems to have been several arguments about whether Kim Novak was actually beautiful or not. Many movie
fans have been considering her as one of the most beautiful and, at the same time, mysterious actresses of all
time. On the other hand, it seems some people thought she wasn't so beautiful after all as other persons had claimed.
For example, The Great Movie Stars 2 tells "One of the things wrong with Vertigo was that it was difficult
to believe that any normal man could prefer Kim Novak to Barbara Bel Geddes". I guess it would be very difficult
for any nomal man to share this opinion (though I like Barbara Bel Geddes too). But, in Vertigo (1958),
Kim Novak was so perfectly metamorphosed from the first part to the second part that I almost believed this remark.
Anyway, one thing is clear. She was a very versatile actress even to such an extent that she arouse such kind of
arguments as described above, and she was, by any means, one of the most prominent actresses in 1950s.
