It was my first time to watch such a beautiful love story. And also it was the first time that I was deeply moved to teas in my childhood. I was really deeply impressed and touched since I was so yound even to keep innocence. To my regret, now I'm so much complex thinking man to criticize any type of movies.

In those days, Horror movies, SF movies, or human drama could impress me and excite me. But I had never been impressed with love stories before I watched this movie when I was 13 or 14 in SANGEN-JAYA. It was shown on SANBON-DATE type (not first-run).

The title is "LAST CONCERT" (Japanese title) which was produced by Italian staffs and financially supported by Japanese distribution agency. I guess movie critics regard it as a minor and a B-class movie. You may also say the story was a commonplace one.
Actually, there appeared a middle-aged man who is a pianist but about to lost his dream, and there is a girl who noticed her incurable disease, leukaemia, and is looking for her father she haven't seen since her childhood. Their fateful encounter was happened in a hospital. Richard got in the consultation room just after Stella had got out. Suddenlly he was told by a doctor that "Your daughter has only 3 month or 2 month to live. she suffers leukaemia." He got out the hospital alone because he thought he was nothing to her and needless to worry about it. But she caught up him and start much talking to him.

STELLA I'll get to Concarneau, too early to sleep, too late to do anything else.
RICHARD And what do you think you're going to do in Concarneau?
STELLA I'd like to go dancing with you.
RICHARD Well, that'll be another time. Anyway I can't dance. I'll see you. bye bye.
STELLA I'll teach you to dance, I will!
RICHARD I thought you were going to Concarneau.
STELLA I'll go tomorrow. Allright, where shall we go?
RICHARD Well, I'm going to see a man.
STELLA I'm coming too. I won't give you any trouble. Scout's honor. Oh! What's so funny?
RICHARD You're really too much, aren't you?
STELLA I can get back on the bus if you like.
RICHARD Allright, come on. But for Christ sake, let me do the talking.
STELLA If you had a shave, you'd be quite good-looking.

These are the starting part of the story. As well as typical soppy love story, there is no obstacle to guess the ending. His dream finally comes true with her continuous encouragement that probably comes from the last blood of her life. After she had given all what she could give, she passed away silently and peacefully at the wing of his stage with affectionate flophouse mother. That's the first concert of Richard's reborn, and the last concert for Stella. But her love for Richard will never die with a little souvenir...

Here is a sample sound "ST.MICHEL"(.mp3 format 2080kb) which is a part of original sound track. You might feel you've listened to this melody if you would try.
