My PowerBook2400c wears Blue Wetsuit 5.0 of Silicon Sports.
Wetsuit is one kind of the bag for outdoor computing. It is made
of the same material as wet suit. So it is water proof. The bottom
has a fastener at the bottom. The connecters are accessible through
the fastener without removing the suit (see
a photo). That is the most specific character of it. There
are several size and color variations of Wetsuit. Wetsuit 5.0
is for PowerBook Duo series but this size is best fit for PowerBook
2400.
A CPU of the PowerBook was upgraded with G3 accelerater provided
by Interware. The performance is extremely grate. I regret to
say that the book has only 800 x 600 pixel and just thousands
(not millions) colors screen. If this machine could output XGA
screen to an external display with thousands colors, this PowerBook
should be my main machine.
I'm very sad to say that Interware, which was one of the companies most comitted to Macintosh community in Japan, was bankrupt. We cannot get their products without auction sites any more.
Apple Computer did not produce small-sized laptop Mac for long after PowerBook2400 was discontinued. I like small-sized laptop as well as most Japanese people. So I didn't have any interest in PowerBookG3/G4 and shell of iBook. But new iBook released in May, 2001 is not so bad.
