School and Manners;

You think it's nonsense to ask such a thing, but in Japan it's very serious. When children or students take mistakes or did  bad things nobody can scold them except policemen. Many adults have been ripped their money off by middle school students. Such kinds of crime are called "Oyaji-gari"(Oyaji means old men, gari means hunting). Now here in Japan many of young generation look down on their seniors.

Few teachers can scold them essentially, if teachers scold them it will go in vain or they will get angry for scolding. I think many of students will become more selfish in the name of 'personality'.

Before teaching they usually show negative attitudes from the beginning of the lesson. Of course it' s our job to encourage them to study or learn English but the situation has gone over to the unendurable extent.

We teach English with all our smiles , and it doesn't matter whether some of them listen to us or not , and some of students make fun of teachers !            It's a crazy situation at school !

Today we have the biggest problem with students' discipline, because 'Two income family' can't afford to discipline their children at home. Since WW2 we teachers have taken a little responsibility for disciplining students, but today it will be denying. But the situation of students' attitudes and manners are getting worse, and juvenile delinquencies and violences are increasing gradually.

Especially at junior high schools there are the big gaps between students' abilities, in spite of the gaps we have to teach about 40 students all at once in the crowded classroom. We are always to blame for the students' bad behaviors. Into the bargain the mass media have no consensus enough to criticize the education to the hilt.

What do you think of this situation ?
