当会理事の横地隆氏がイナズマチョウ属のLimbusa亜属、いわゆる「大陸系イナズマ」の総説シリーズを刊行した。この亜属はネパールから中国、台湾にかけて分布するタテハチョウ科の蝶で、極めて多彩な形態を持つ魅力的なグループである。しかし、珍品揃いであることもあり、分類も難解そのものであった。
横地氏は15年以上にわたってこの亜属の研究を精力的に進め、海外の博物館でのタイプ標本調査はもとより、各地の標本の収集にも努力してきた。この過程で横地氏が記載した新種、新亜種は10種類以上にのぼる。
横地氏がこれまでの研究の集大成となるシリーズをついに刊行することになった。このほど刊行された第一部では、亜属の位置づけを概観するとともに、これまでに記載されたタクサを丁寧に拾い、ほとんどのタイプ標本をカラーで図示している。この亜属に関心のある人にとってはまさにバイブルとなること請け合いの力作である。第二部は来年（2011）、最後の第三部は再来年（2012）に刊行を予定しているということである。今から楽しみである。

Dr. YOKOCHI
Takashi who is the council member of our society recently published the first
part of the series on Subgenus Limbusa. This subgenus
ranges from
Dr. YOKOCHI has been interested in
this subgenus for decades. He visited many overseas museums and institutions to
check type specimens. In addition, he made a great effort to collect as many
specimens as possible. More than ten species or subspecies have been describes
by him.
He finally started the “great”
series, the revision of this subgenus. The first part was published in this
March. In this part, he overviews this subgenus and almost all the type
specimens are illustrated in color. For those who are interested in this group,
this series are definitely useful for good reference. According to the author,
second part will be published 2011, and the third –final- part will be 2012. I
am really looking forward the day.
