Grey-headed Lapwing
Grey-headed Lapwing

In a rice field, IMA-KATATA Otsu-city SHIGA Japan, June 17, 1997.

Since I usually see this bird, I have regarded it as a common bird. However, I hear the bird is distributed in only a limited area, that is, Japan and the circumference. Mere a black band in its breast attracts our attention on the ground. However, once the bird flies, it becomes a beautiful bird, having a conspicuous color tone with a white body and black-edged wings. Although this species is a resident in Japan according to guide books, I feel the birds seen more often in summer.
This bird is not in the MANO-RIVER, but it is always seen in rice fields near the river, particularly at the place called IMA-KATATA.
