Kingfisher
Kingfisher

At the MANO-RIVER, Shiga, Jan. 10, 1997.

Most of the places where I observe birds are near my home. Visit the same place everyday, and you may come accross a bird which rare appears there. On such an occasion, surely you will regard it as a reward.
This bird was such a reward for me. The MANO-RIVER is not very clean, but it is not protected with concrete banks. Accordingly more birds visit the river than we expect.
Kingfishers seem to have a habit to move looking for food particularly in winter. Usually they do not live in the MANO-RIVER, but I saw one kingfisher there only once this winter.
