Australian White Ibis
Australian White Ibis

In Currumbin Sanctuary, Palm Beach, QLD, Australia (Feb. 27, 1997).
The center is an Australian Pelican, and
the six on either side are White Ibises.
Two in the left lower are Swamphens.
One swimming in the right upper is a Black Duck, and
one swimming in the left end is a Magpie Goose.

We very often saw this species. "Ibises!!", first we regarded the birds as a curiosity, but they appeared every where food seemed to be found. Thinking the mortaliry of Japanese Crested Ibises (Nipponia nippon), we wondered what difference is there between the two species.
An Australian said that the birds often caused trouble because of their scavenginging habit.
