Personal History and Education
1948: born and brought up in Otaru.
- Otaru is a harbor city with many hills and slopes. The landscape of the city is a core in my present sense of space.
1967: graduated Otaru Oyo Highschool.
- In my late teens, I read poetry, sf novels and serious ones and knew the power of literature. My favorite poets, then, was Sakutaro Hagiwara, Dylan Thomas and the Beat poets.
1968-1972: a student of Hokkaido University.
- In a period of student power of late 60's, I cought a wave of the time. My interest was not limited to particular fields, yet my major was English literature focusing literary theory.
1973-1977: a student of graduate school of Hokkaido University.
- 1987-1988: a visiting scholar to San Francisco State University.
- In this artsy city, I carried out some researches into poetry readings.

Personal History and Martial Arts Experience
1968: became a member of Hokkaido University Shorinji Kempo Club.
- My first teacher is Kimura Katsuyuki Sensei, Sapporo Shiba Branch Master. When I was a graduate student, I became a coach of Hokkaido University Shorinji Kempo club, and kept practicing under Moriya Morihito Sensei, Otaru Branch Master.
I was permitted by Master So Doshin Sensei, the founder of Shorinji Kempo, to open Otaru Oyo Highschool Branch.
1975 first visit to USA.

- In Florida, I had chances to meet many good fighters and martial artists, and got convinced of the excellence of systematic teaching method in Shorinji Kempo.
1987〜1988 stayed in San Francisco.
- I practiced with members of San Francisco Branch, and the other members from branches in West Coast.
1991 founded Shorinji Kempo O-asa Asanomi Branch.
2003
- 7th dan, black belt.
