● (No.957) 中国衛星 #8: CAS-4A/4B (2017年6月17日) ------------------------------------------------ CAS-4A/4B OVS-1A/1B, ZHUHAI-1 01/02 Launch Date: 15 June 2017 Launch Site: Taiyuan China Two satellites from the Chinese Amateur Satellite Group (CAMSAT) are expected to launch from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center into a 524 km orbit with an inclination of 42 degrees. The two satellites, CAS-4A and CAS-4B, will be 50 kg mass with 3-axis stabilization carrying optical remote sensing missions. The amateur radio payloads will be similar to the XW-2 series of satellites with Mode U/v linear transponders with power output of 100mW, 100mW AX.25 4800baud GMSK telemetry, and 50mW CW beacons. Frequencies for these two satellites have not yet been coordinated. Li Tipei, the CAS academician who first proposed the satellite in the early 1990s, said Chinese scientists could have made many great scientific discoveries if it had been launched within 10 years of first being mooted. Even so, he is confident the satellite can make new findings. "Our satell_ ite has advantages in detecting transient phenomena and X-ray explosions of celestial bodies. And its functions have expanded, as its developers added more detectors so it can cover a broader range of energy," Li said.
