ANDE-2, DRAGONSat #1

STS から 7月30日,31日に放出予定の ANDE と DRAGONSat の情報を集めました。
ANDE-2 はアマチュア衛星ではないようです。 DRAGONSat の周波数等の詳細な情報は不明です。

ANDE-2
Atmospheric Neutral Density Experiment (大気密度観測衛星)

ANDE-2 (Atmospheric Neutral Density Experiment - 2) consists of two microsatellites,
called ANDE Active (AA) spacecraft (Castor) and the ANDE Passive (AP) spacecraft (Pollux)
launched from the Shuttle payload bay, that will measure the density and composition of
the low Earth orbit (LEO) atmosphere while being tracked from the ground.
The data will be used to better predict the movement and decay of objects in orbit.

transmit telemetry every 30 seconds. Pollux every 33 seconds.
Both are transmitting 1200 baud AX.25 packet Telemetry.

Most of the info is on the website:
https://goby.nrl.navy.mil/ANDE

Other than that, I don't have much detail information since this
was built by a different team than our original ANDE project.
The amateur payloads were developed by the Amateur Radio Club at
the Naval Research Labs and got a ride on the ANDE spheres like
we did a few years ago.

Used UISS to decode, tracking ISS on 145.825 figuring it had to be close
enough (antenna has 24 degree beam width). Will add keps later on and
get more accurate tracking.

Re: Please teach me AggieSat frequency and mode.

AggieSat2 is operating on 436.25 MHz. The mode is a proprietary modem
protocol as the main radio is a COTS data modem. We have been relying
on transparency of radio for contacts. To our knowledge the only way
to decipher the code is to have a model MHX425 that can speak the
proprietary language. The company would not share such details with us.
It is frequency hopping but set to hop continually to 436.25 MHz.

Its actually at 19200 bps, and its a data modem with proprietary
synchronization protocols (it is an off the shelf data modem, the company
wouldn't even let us know what all those settings were). To our knowledge
a unit of similar type is needed for decoding.

If you can receive the beacon (a 5 second burst that initiates on a 1/20Hz
repetition cycle) we would love to hear about it. It appears Bevo and
AggieSat are stuck together right now. We are looking for aliveness
confirmation until we can get the units in a stable state.

We have had one contact ourselves, and a few from amateurs reported that
show it is alive, but maybe weak. If you can give similar confirmation with
times it would be great to help aid us to get the satellites in a stable
configuration.

Decoding is difficult. The radio is an Microhard MHX425 data modem. It has
proprietary synchronization and protocol behavior. Unless you have a modem
such as that you probably wont be able to receive the data from the radio.

Be that as it may any more contacts and recordings you can make with time
stamps to show that the unit is still alive at specific times would be
fantastic. Our data suggests that Bevo and AggieSat did not separate. We are
receiving weak signals. Were hoping they come apart later in the mission.
Until they do separate, any indication and proof from amateurs that it is
still in a functional state (ie: beaconing) would be very welcome throughout
the mission until we can either get a handle on their state, or fully operating.

Sincerely, John KE5JTG
