Dear Mineo Wakita,

AMRAD is the Portuguese AMSAT-CT, and is in development an educational
satellite model, in partnership with AMRASE from Brazil.
It makes some years that AMRAD (AMSAT-CT) launches satellite simulators in
stratospheric balloons, in sub orbital flight.
This educational project calls CAMOES, is for being the research and
development of diverse models of satellites, during a period of 10 years
(2006 to 2016) to allow to improve projects, and to give formation to the
youngsters in the professional schools and university between communities of
Portuguese language, inside countries of the CPLP (Community of the
Countries of Portuguese Language).

So, CAMOES satellite is an International Educational Program developed as a
result of a partnership with AMRAD ? Portuguese Association for Educational
Research and Development of Amateur Radio AMSAT-CT (Portugal), and its main
goal is to share technology to design a radio communications satellite
called CAMOESAT-1 with the participation of students from countries of
Portuguese speaking language such as: Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Green Cape,
Guinea-Bissau, St. Thome, Principe, Goa, and East Timor. The satellite will,
amongst other things, broadcast a message of peace by the children.

We are already taking applications from schools and universities interested
in participating in the development of this project with the supervision of
our engineers and technicians. The first operational steps are already being
conducted by the Brazilian and Portuguese teams.

CAMOESAT-1 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Mission and orbit

CAMOESAT-1 will be a LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite around the 800 Km
altitude with a HAM radio payload. It will be carrying a UHF (uplink) / VHF
(downlink) 2 W cross-band FM repeater, UHF (uplink) / VHF (downlink) linear
transponder, as well as an VHF APRS beacon in order to track the spacecraft
and view telemetry data.
However, modifications can yet be implemented at this stage of the project.

Payload

CAMOESAT-1 will be carrying the following items:

02 - VHF 2W (33 dBm) NBFM transmitter, (145 MHz);
01 - UHF -120 dBm 12 dB SINAD NBFM receivers (436 MHz);
01 - GPS Receiver;
01 - Digital APRS (AFSK 1200 bauds) and Voice Beacon for the 145 MHz TX;
01 - Stratosferic D layer experimental CW (5 WPM) beacon in 7.015 MHz;
01 ? U/V linear transponder (436 MHz uplink) -105 dBm and VHF (145 MHz
downlink) 40 dBm (10W) 50 kHz BW;

Eventually

01 -  U/L linear transponder (436 MHz uplink) -105 dBm and (1269 MHz
downlink) 40 dBm (10W) 50 kHz BW;

CAMOES Sat-1 will be carrying the following items
General technical Payload specifications

Mode V telemetry beacon:
Downlink: 145.850 MHz (AFSK) AX25 1200 bps
Output Power: 33 dBm (2 W)
On-board beacon: Digital voice message of greetings and hope

Experimental stratospheric D layer beacon:
Downlink: 7.040 kHz CW (5 WPM)
Output Power: 33 dBm (2 W)

Mode U/V FM Repeater:
Uplink: 435.250 FM
Downlink: 145.875 FM
Output Power: 33 dBm (2 W) @ -115 dBm RX input 12 dB SINAD
On-board beacon: CW (5 WPM) possible

Mode U/L Linear Transponder (non-inverting) 50 kHz bandwidth:
Output Uplink: 435.850 - 435.900 MHz SSB/CW
Downlink: 1269.850 - 1269.900 MHz SSB/CW
Output Power: 33 dBm (2 W) @ - 105 dBm RX input
Beacon: CW (5 WPM)

Mode U/V Linear Transponder (inverting) 30 kHz bandwidth:
Uplink: 435.235 - 435.265 MHz SSB/CW
Downlink: 145.965 - 145.935 MHz SSB/CW
Output Power: 33 dBm (2 W) @ - 105 dBm RX input

Shape and structure of the satellite:

The main body of the spacecraft is made by special aluminum,
three vortex triangle shaped, but this could not be the definitive
format; studies have been carried to determine a final shape
in order to optimize the physical structure and therefore maintain
a desirable amount of energy being delivered by these, to keep the
satellite in operational condition.
