| ＭＳＮニュースによると、『今年４０周年を迎えた００７シリーズの第２０作「ダイ・アナザー・デイ」（２００３年３月８日公開）が、欧米でシリーズ最高記録を更新するヒット中だ。』ということで、喜ばしいのだが、どうして日本での公開は３月なのでしょうか。
００７は娯楽作品だが、一方、状況をひらくために戦うインテリということで初期はヒットした。 ００７を「復活」させたピアース・ブロスナンは（きちんと断っておくが、僕は大ファンである）、アクションはいいが、ショーン・コネリーよりは線が細く、知的印象はやや弱まった。とは言え、現在のシリーズは、かつての００７シリーズとは区別して見るべきだろう。少なくとも、今やかつてのシリーズを見ようという気はなくなった。見るなら、断然、ピアース・ブロスナンのものである。出来れば、もうちょっと、ライバルより強い００７として描いて欲しいのですが、ちょっと弱く描きすぎですね、プロデューサーさん。
大ヒットらしく、良かったです。むしろ、次の作品の出来が心配。ファンというものはどうしようもないものです。
2003年8月１日、レンタルなど開始。
ピアース・ブロスナンの契約はあと1本あるとのこと。次回作は2005年の予定。詳細は検索エンジンでお調べください。最近の動向までくわしくわかります。

昨日、新しい007役の俳優が報じられた。過去にはミッションインポッシブル2などに出演しているとのことだ。ブロスナンは過去の人になった。

で、いくつかのサイトを見たが、ブロスナンだ、いや、他の人だとリストまで上がっている。ブロスナンはMGMを経営しているSONYが推しているという記事もある。ブロスナン自身は乗り気ではないとの記事もある。現時点ではまだ誰になるかはわからないが、遅ればせながらご報告しておく。

Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, producers of the James
Bond films, and MGM announced today that Martin Campbell will
direct CASINO ROYALE, the 21st film in the 007 franchise.
This is Campbell's second time as helmer of a James Bond film.
In 1995 he directed the hit GOLDENEYE which introduced Pierce
Brosnan to the role of 007 with great success.
Wilson and Broccoli said:
"We are thrilled that Martin has accepted our offer to
direct CASINO ROYALE. He is an extremely talented director and
we believe he will help take our films in a new and exciting
direction. He is currently finishing filming 'Legend Of
Zorro', the sequel to 'The Mask Of Zorro', and will be joining
EON Productions shortly to work on the development of the
script with our writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade."
MGM Vice Chairman and COO Chris McGurk said:
"Martin is an incredibly exciting filmmaker. GOLDENEYE
was a wonderful movie and helped reinvigorate the Bond
franchise. We're thrilled to have him back to direct the
newest Bond."
Born in New Zealand, Campbell moved to England in 1966 and
made his directorial debut on the popular TV series' 'The
Professionals' and 'Minder'. He moved to America in 1986 to
direct 'Criminal Law' and 'Defenceless'. Following GOLDENEYE,
he went on to direct 'The Mask Of Zorro', 'Vertical Limit' and
'Beyond Borders' and is currently directing 'Legend Of Zorro'.
CASINO ROYALE will be released in 2006 and distributed
world-wide by MGM. No decision has yet been made regarding
casting for the role of 'James Bond'.

Dear Friends:
My apologies for not updating you on what's happening in and around
my life. I'm vacationing with my family right now... summer is here
and we're making the most of it!
Where to begin? Having decided last year to take a good chunk of
time off to spend with my precious family, and then being particular
about what projects came my way, and then setting sail on one film
only for it to fall apart... I am now eager to get back to work. As
my acting teacher used to say "nothing comes from
nothing."
The Matador will be released on November 18, after
traveling through various festivals including events in Deauville
and Toronto. The reaction to the film from the studio and members of
the press has been very favorable. We will post a schedule as to my
personal appearances during the press junket.
Irish DreamTime is in full swing with two projects at the moment.
The first is a thriller called Butterfly on a Wheel,
which I would very much like to make in San Francisco after the
summer. We have been working on this script for months, and we all
feel it has great potential.
In the New Year we are hoping to co-produce a film called The
True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, in partnership with
Mr. Danny DeVito and Mr. Morgan Freeman. Some of you may know the
title from the book of the same name, it's a very fine story by a
writer named Avi. Danny has done an excellent job at adapting the
book, a period piece set in 1832, and is also going to direct the
film; we are trying to persuade him to appear in the picture as
well.
A neighbor of mine called me a few months back and asked if I would
submit a few paintings for an event at the Hangar Gallery North
in Santa Monica, which is run by an artist named Yossi Govrin. At
the time I was tackling a canvas that I had started but never
finished, and it was one that my wife Keely really loved. I decided
to have a go at doing something I said I would never do; show my
work in public. So I put four paintings in the back of the truck and
drove down to the gallery where they had very kindly kept a wall for
me. I proceeded to bum and smoke at least four cigarettes in a row
(nerves), while the public began to stream in on a sunny spring
evening. Yossi and friends were most encouraging, and I was deeply
proud to be in the company of artists from all over California. But
as they say, don't give up the day job, Pierce.
On a more important note, my heart goes out to all the souls
affected by the recent tragedy in London. I wrote a poem in my
journal the morning of the event, it is here for those who wish to
read it.
As always, let us all go out into each new day and be kind, to
ourselves and each other.

007とは離れるが、ピアース・ブロスナン主演の「ダイヤモンド・イン・パラダイス After
the Sunset」 を見た。軽い大人のエンタテインメント映画だ。「テイラー・オブ・パナマ
The Tailor of Panama 」と同じジャンルだ。見た人の評価は高くないようだが、こうした映画は楽しめればいいのだから、あまり難しいことは考えない方がいいだろう。
