一般に「葉もの」「花もの」などと呼ばれるメセンは、コノフィツムやリトプスに比べればマイナーで好む人も少ないのですが、花の美しさのみならず、塊根を有するなど姿のユニークな種類も少なくありません。栽培は一般に易しいものが多いのですが、なかには夏越しが難しいものあります。ここでは「準玉型種」と呼ぶべきものもあわせ、開花のようすを紹介します。
