An old woman and her grandson lived in a small town. The grandson had a
lot of bright freckles all over his face. One day, they spent the afternoon
at the zoo. While walking around looking at different kinds of animals
,they saw a lot of children waiting in line in front of the special event
tent.
小さな田舎町にとても仲の良いおばあちゃんと孫が住んでいました。その子は男の子で顔一面にそばかすのある子でした。ある日孫は動物園へ遊びに出かけました。動物園にはいろいろな動物がいました。象、虎、ライオン、縞馬、キリン、鷹、梟、ゴリラ、、その子は走り前あるようにして見て回りました。おばあちゃんは「待って！待って！」と言いながらも嬉しそうに後を追いかけていました。
動物園には中庭があり、来園者の休憩所があり、そこにはちょっとしたイベントの出来る広場があります。（2017.8.11.)

The little boy asked one of the girls in the line what they were waiting
for . She told him that they were there to get their cheeks painted by
a local artist. The artist would drew the children's favorite animals on
their cheeks. "You've got so many freckles on your face. There's no
place to paint anything on your cheeks"
テントが張られ、その前に長い行列が出来ていました。若い女の子が多くて、みんなはしゃいでいました。男の子は「みんな楽しそうに何を待っているんだろう」と思い、そばにいた女の子に聞いてみました。するとその子はこう言いました。
「私たちフェイスペインテイングをしてもらうの、近所に住んでいる絵描きさんが顔に絵を描いてくれるのよ、何でもいいｎでさうって、自分のなりたい動物の名前を言うの、私は猫が好きだからもうすぐ猫に変身するの、待ち遠しいわ、でも、あなたは無理よ、だって顔一杯にそばかすがあるんだもの、絵を描く場所がないわ」
The girl in the line said to the boy. The little boy was sad and looked
down. His grandmother knelt down next to him.
あまりの言葉に男の子はがっくりしてうつむいてしまいました。おばあちゃんは男の子そばじひざまずき言いました。
"I love your freckles. When I was a little girl, I always wanted freckles,"
she said, while gently touching the boy's cheek. "The artist can draw
a nice leopard on your cheek. Besides, freckles are won derful." The
little boy looked up and said "Really ?" "Of course,"
said the grandmother. "Can you tell me one things cooler than freckles?"
The little boy thought for moment, carefully looked at his grandmother's
face, and softly said to her
「私はあなたのそばかすが好きよ、おばあちゃんは小さい頃、いつもそばかすがあったらいいのにと思っていたの、あなたのそばかすは素敵よ」そう言って男の子の頬を優しく撫でました。それからこう続けました。
「絵描きのお姉さんはあなたの顔を素敵なヒョウにしてくれますよ、だってあなたのそばかすがヒョウを描くのにとても役に立つと思うわ、他の子では無理よ」
「そうなの～、、」男の子の顔はパッと輝きました。
「そうよ、そばかすよりカッコいいものなんてないわよ、何か有ると思う？言ってごらん」
"Wrinkles."
「あるよ！それはね、おばあちゃんのしわ！」（2017.8.18.)
