The Solomon Islands comprising about 100 islands on the Pacific are located in the Australian northeast, the Papua New Guinean east. It is about 1568 that the Solomon Islands where indigenous people lived in were discovered by a Spaniard. The U.K. declared possession of the south Solomon Islands in 1893 and got the north Solomon Islands from Germany in 1900. It passed through occupation of the Japanese armed forces of 1942 and got autonomy in 1976 and became independent as a constitutional monarchy in the Commonwealth of Nations which did British Queen Elizabeth II with the sovereign in 1978.
