Although it is human beings that it is most prosperous in the living thing group, but also Insecta show that it is prosperous as well as human beings, and Insecta exist on the earth forms about 70% of the number of kinds of all animals, and it fits various environment well.
It is a Coleoptera order that there are most kinds in this Insecta. Subsequently, it is an order of a Lepidoptera, a Hymenoptera, a Diptera, and a Hemiptera.
Although it is not clear how many insects are exist, the real number of the kind of this insects is a number (624,300 kinds) whose trial calculation was made by Weber in 1954.
Then, since it is said that the about 10,000 kinds is indicated every year, it may amount to 850,000 kinds or 1,000,000 kinds only with the inssects.

Since the stamp of silkworm and silkmoth was issued as sericulture meeting holding commemoration from Lebanon in 1930, as for the stamp describing these insects, 2865 kinds have been published by 1990. However, since the duplicated kind of 1259 is included, the kind from which 1606 differs is published.
If compared with the number of kinds of an actual insect, it can be said that the numbers of kinds of the insect stamp issued still more are few. However, even if it says so, it is by no means easy to collect the kinds of insect stamp altogether on an individual level.
Refer to the lower table for the items of the kind of insect stamp also including the duplicated kind.
As for the insect stamp, 1990 or subsequent ones is published in large numbers with some excessive issue. However, if issue inclines toward the butterfly and the moth stamp and it limits to the insect stamp except the butterfly and the moth (Lepidoptera), there are not so many issue kinds.
