Coelacanth Latimeria chalumnae (Latimeriidae) (COELACANTHIFORMES) |
Coelacanthiformes is the one of the representative "living fossils" which survived 380,000,000 years from the middle in Devonian period in the Paleozoic era to date, and it was discovered in a sea area of the African Southeast in 1938. It lives in the rock beach zone of depth of the water around 200m, but there is the record that ate a fish living in the deep sea more than 2,000m, and the habits have many mysteries. A close species is discovered recently in Indonesia. In flesh-eating, the main game is a fish. It leaves the body to stream down a head when it look for game while standing on hand for the bottom of the sea and take the game which came near a mouth. Axelrodichthys is the medium-sized latimeria which inhabited the (from 124,500,000 years to 112,000,000 years before) for Abt period in the first half year in the Cretaceous for the Mesozoic, and, only from Brazilian Santana formation, the fossil only for one kind of Axelrodichthys araripensis is found a lot. A thing looking like the huge tail fin is not the true tail fin. the tail fins is extremely a part of the tip of the tail.
