"Down pours the rain. Raining in your heart.

It soothes your weary heart.

You can do nothing but cry when you are sad.

Let yourself shed tears as much as you like."

This is an aphorism that is hard to forget.

"The smile of the one who has shed tears of sorrow is beautiful."
(Master Rishin Yasuda)

"The smile of the one who has shed tears of sorrow is beautiful." Is it true?

I believe this is true.

There are people who perk others up, and they are the ones who have had many sorrows.

I know some people who smile so cheerfully that I can't believe what they have been through.

In fact, it is not only a few who are smiling bearing sadness in their mind.

I could tell you this from experience.

In a temple there is a record called 'Anniversaries of the death' and I extract the records of the dead which have third or thirteenth anniversaries from the original record and rewrite them in a new book.

Actually, if I used a personal computer this job would be done in a matter of minutes.

But I rewrite each single one by hand in order to learn what the people are like.

One person lost all of his five children at once.

And another has hosted four funerals even though she is still in her thirties, but they smile calmly and cheerfully.

There are many people like this.

I am not saying that you too should do the same.

You don't have to run away from your sorrow.

Feel sorry and cry as much as you like.

There is nothing wrong with feeling sad.

Buddhism shows you a world in which you do not have to escape from sadness.
