100,000yen for ringside seats

10 different prices ranged from 300,000yen for the royal ringside seats to 5,000yen for the last section of the second floor balcony. Royal ringside seats were only for those who were involved in the events. For the general public, the seats below 100,000yen were provided.
Back then, a ringside seat for pro-wrestling was only 5,000yen, and world boxing title match was only for 20,000yen. The prices for this match was unbelievably expensive, but of course, tickets were sold out.
View rate was 54.6% at its peak

NET (today's TV Asahi) aired the match twice. The afternoon show was aired between 1pm and 2:50pm in its 32 network stations throught Japan. The evening show was aired between 7:30 and 9:21 in Japan, New York, and Los Angeles.
Ratings were 46% average for the afternoon show with 54.6% at the peak in the 13th round and 19% average for the evening show with 26.3% at the peak.
The dullness of the closed circuit caused the big loss

Ali's fight money was 6.1million dollars (1.83billion yen then). On the other hand, Inoki's pay was 2million dollars (600millioin yen back then). The gate, television fee, tickets for closed circuit were suppsed to be New Japan's profit to pay off Ali's guarantee.
Closed circuit was held all over the world including 170 locations in the U.S., but this was unexpectedly dull, and it was said that New Japan lost about 1billion yen.

"Martial Arts Olympic" event was held all over the U.S. simultaneously with the closed circuit of the Inoki vs. Ali match from Tokyo.
At the Century Shea Stadium in New York with the audience of 30,000, Bruno Sammartino defended WWWF Heavyweight Title against Stan Hansen at 8min by forfeit in a grudge match, Andre the Giant defeated the boxer Chuck Wepner at 1'52" in the 3rd round by COR.
At the International Amphetheater in Chicago, Dick the Bruiser & Crusher Lisowski wrestled Black Jack Lanza & Bobby Duncum for the AWA World Tag Team title, and Verne Gagne and Nick Bockwinkle wrestled for the AWA World Heavyweight title.
At the Houston Coloseum in Texas, Terry Funk defended NWA World Heavyweight title against Rocky Johnson. Willem Ruska wrestled Don Fargo at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles.
Ultimate Fight

Ali was said to have poured plaster into his bandage. Also, one of the guys in Ali's corner supposedly had a gun. Inoki's side also brought the shoes with iron plate, but Inoki didn't use it.
Seiji Sakaguchi, Kotetsu Yamamoto, and Yoshiaki Fujiwara in Inoki's corner were ready to put their lives to protect Inoki. If one of them actually won, it might have caused a disaster. It was truly the fight in an ultimate situation.
