ブルーグラスの歌唱方法にハイテナーという独特の方法がある。のどをしぼりながらメインボーカルに上５度中心のハーモニーをつける歌い方である。おもにフラット・マンドリン奏者が担当する。
ブルーグラスの父と言われるビル・モンローもハイテナーシンガーであった。このリトルマギーという歌はそのハイテナーでソロをとる歌ではもっとも有名な歌ではないか。僕はラルフ・スタンレーの歌が１番好きだ。N.P.V.R.のレパートリーではないが、この曲はN.P.V.R.のバンジョー奏者のジョッシュがよく歌っていた。
