====Historical Note=====

"A very ancient Umbrian Centre. Perugia rose to great importance as Lucumonia Etrusca. In the year 40 B.C. Octavian took possetion of the town. It was overrun by barbarian invaders, but eary Middle Ages became politicaly autonomous. The town was ravaged for a long time by internal struggles until, in 1540, it came under the rulke of the State of the Church, briefly interrupted by the Napoleonic invasion. On 14th September 1860, it became part of the Kingdom of Italy"
