news at 1200 including the sppech about national election by
President Habiebie. Closing announcement at 1235 and signed off.

3344.8 RRI Ternate. Local pops and advertisement at 1225 in which I
found the commercial by "Ajinomoto". 1259 SCI and followed to
Jakarta news relay. Local pops program including music entitled
"Ini Yang Terbaik" by Nur Afni Octavia at 1308. 1400 Local news
"Sari Berita" and then telephone conversations. ID was heard at
1307, 1359 and 1404 as "Programa Satu, Radio Republik Indonesia

delayed slightly from the stronger 15125 channel.

An educational program on the election, sponsored by the United Nations
Development Program (UNDP) and the Indonesian Family Planning
Association (PKBI), is being broadcasted by 40 radio stations across the
country. The program, aired since May 17, is being carried by radio
stations in all provinces, except Irian Jaya, East Timor and Southeast
Sulawesi, official of provincial PKBI office, Farid Husni, said here
Friday. "The cooperation with UNDP in the area of education is aimed at
motivating teenagers to socialize the general election among their
peers," Husni said. Teenagers are also expected to realize and
comprehend the importance of the general election, he said. Husni said
that in Central Java, the program is being carried by RCTFM in Semarang,
Radio Baurekso in Pekalongan, Radio Zenith in Salatiga, Radio PTPN FM
in Solo, and Radio RGM FM in Purwokerto. "Each day, they air five to
seven programs from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. by way of advertisements and
discussions," Husni said. Among those who carry out the discussions
are television presenter Niko Siahaan and actress-singer Rebecca Tuwewu
from Jakarta. The program will run until June 30.

7 June is election day of Republik Indonesia. Many RRI stations reported
the result of it. I began to monitor RRI stations from 1100. At 1100
many stations had a local news. Most station reported the election at
this time and extended its schedule. Especially RRI Gorontalo had a
special program including long speach by man after the local news.
RRI Jakarta also reported the election past 1100. This program was
constructed Indonesian pop music and the report.
At 1200 all RRI stations relayed Jakarta news including the report of
the election. News was finished at 2134 which was longer than usual.
After then, all RRI stations had no report. Many of them broadcasted
Indonesian pops program.
At 1300 stations relayed Jakarta news again. This news is usually about
economy, money, and industry, but today was election report was heard
after this. Report was continued until 1319 and ended with music
entitled "Bagimu Negri". Recently ending music of Jakarta news at 1300
was not "Bagimu Negri" (I do not know its music title). After Jakarta
news, RRI Gorontalo on 3265kHz, RRI Padang on 4003kHz, RRI Serui on
4606kHz, RRI Fak Fak on 4789kHz had election report from own studio.
At 1400 some RRI stations had local news including the result of the
election. Also RRI Serui on 4606kHz broadcasted the special program.
At 1500 RRI stations relayed Jakarta news. But RRI Serui on 4606kHz did
not relay the news. In this Jakarta news, the result of the election
was reported like as other Jakarta news time. Its news was ended at
1520 with Bagimu Negri music. After Jakarta news relay, RRI Pekanbaru
on 5040kHz had the special program of the election. And RRI Jakarta
on 11760kHz broadcasted the report program which was not relayed by
other RRI station.
I stopped monitoring at 1530. Most of stations signed off as usual,
but 3 stations extended its schedule: RRI Gorontalo on 3265kHz signed
off at 1332 (Usual sign off at 1300), RRI Serui on 4606kHz was still
heard at 1530 (Usual sign off at 1515), and RRI Biak on 6154kHz was
still heard at 1530 (Usual sign off past 1100).
And RRI Sorong on 4875kHz was inactive today.
