Born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.


BA in Economics, Keio University in 1972.

Graduated from the Ph.D Program of Graduate School, Keio University in 1981. Granted a degree of MA in Economics from Keio Univ. in 1975.

After joining Dep. of Economics, Komazawa University as a lecturer in 1981, and an associate professor in 1985, appointed to a professorship in 1991, until 2001.

Developments in the EU's policies for SMEs in the last decades, and their comparative studies,

Regional economies, industrial agglomeration 'cluster' model and regional innovation policies,

New phase of Japanese production system and subcontracting management at home and abroad,

CSR issues for SMEs and social entrepreneurship,

The state of entrepreneurship and enterprise culture in Japan today and tomorrow,

Policy issues for encouraging new start-ups and business sucession.
