Yokohama station is a large station at which seven railroad lines stop. Each day, an average of 969,106 railway passengers commute through Yokohama station (Fiscal 1998). Yokohama station is located next to many large department stores including SOGO, Takashimaya, and Mitsukosi. A large underground shopping center also spreads out from around the station. Yokohama station has an East exit and West exit. A large concourse passes inside through the center of the station connecting the East and West exits. |

NOTE: To go to the INTERNATIONAL STADIUM YOKOHAMA where the games of the World Cup will be held, you must get off the train at Shin-Yokohama station. To ride the train from Yokohama station to Shin-Yokohama station, you must pass through Higashi-Kanagawa station, a terminal station of the JR Yokohama Line; however, some trains run directly from Yokohama station. If you ride the subway, you need not transfer. |
