What is Media Art?

Media Art is, in brief, Art Work using high technologies such as computer and multimedia. Usually not includes CG and Digital Sound works.
Media Art gives somehow bodily sensations, in other words, we can touch them, talk(interact) with them and have discoveries and surprises.
They have 2 types of styles, Performance and Installation. In Sound Media Art Performance, for example, perform with self-invented instruments and picture devices.
Installation style is exibitions, for example, a work can make noise or project pictures using its sensoring system. Also, we can see Internet Media Art in these days.

What is Media Artist?
Creators are called "Media Artists". Mr.Toshio Iwai and Mr.Kazuhiko Hachiya are famous. Media Artists are often university professors.
They sometimes create Artworks with companies. Those works can be companies' advertisements, charitable work and in expectation of becoming popular.
Where are Media Art Works?
Available at InterCommunicationCenter(ICC) by NTT, science museums, exbition facilities at universities, Media Art events, and so on. ARS Electronica held in Australia every year is the famous exbition.
