How To Play
Techniques
The usage of foot pedal is what really matters in bass drum.
Movement Of Beater The pedal and foot movement would not be in the fixed speed even if you beat notes in the same interval. This can be described as a rolling wheel, but the wheel is an oval shape. Also, it needs more acceleration than gravity. It can be said that the beater bends when hitting a drum.
In order to make a big sound, you will need to speed up the shot of the beater rather than adding power or gravity to the beater.
In othre words, it depends on how you change back the beater and how you increase acceleration.
Heel Down Method
 (Ankle)
You move the foot pedal by your ankle.
This method is essential for you to play a tune in small volume.
You make a shot by your ankle having your sole on the pedal.
Heel Up Method
 (Knee)
You move the pedal by your knee.
You step the pedal with your heel up from the pedal. The movement of your knee steps the pedal. Make sure that your toe is always on the pedal and controls the movement of the beater. It corresponds to the difference of how much you fling up your sticks when playing. Before you make a shot, you need a precise return.
This method is suitable for you to play a tune in big volume. It is possible for you to make accents by controlling the volume.

Up-Down Method Stepping the pedal from your knee would be "down" and making a shot by your ankle when your knee goes up would be "up". Combination with these "up" and "down" enables you to make successive shots.
This might be difficult at first, but you will be able to beat the drum twice while your knee goes up and down for once.
If you master this method, you will be able to play delicate notes and vary your expressions.
Sliding Method This is another method for successive shots. Quick successive shots can be made by sliding your foot upward on the pedal when you step for the second shot. It is like twisting or screwing your foot.

The pattern called "samba kick" is performed by the up-down method or by the sliding method.
Rolling Method You will be able to produce a similar rolling effect of snare drum by conveying the shaking movemnt of your knee. I sometimes use this method at the ending of the tune. You need to be experienced if you want it big and precise.
