I never forget to take my own drum pedal to the rehearsal even if I do not take my snare drum with me. In my opinion, drum pedal is more important than sticks. When I am to play drum, I always wear slightly thick socks, so I always take off my shoes and then play it.

Mute

You hold down the sustain of the top head by pressing down the beater to the top head. On the contrary, you gain sustain by pulling apart the beater immediately. You will use mute much in rock musick, but in jazz music, you will need the technique to use it properly according to the situation.
