Bokuga - Art of contrast
Stillness/Speed, Silence/Engine Noise, Spirit/Logic, Tradition/Innovation,
Black & White/Vivid colours of Formula machines…
All combined on white paper
Bokuga is an art of contrast between charcoal
(black) and paper (white), harmony between blurs and solid lines. It has
been a spiritual world of stillness, silence and nature, in other words,
beauty of Oriental culture.
Motor sport is one of western culture, with long-term history behind.
I thought it was interesting to use an oriental technique to describe
motor racing. I found that traditional Japanese Bokuga
art was best able to express the air flows (aerodynamics), speed and even
noises, vibrations, smells, tensions and fears… a full impact on
all six senses. And I have developed my own unique way to do so, which
worked successfully, I believe.
I would like to exhibit my works in Europe and America, a heart of motor
racing, so western people can feel, smell, see, listen to and taste my
Bokuga art.
