About Daihatsu Fellow EV


1965, Daihatsu Industory Co. started research for electric vehicle. August 1967,Electric vehicle Development Committee (E.D.C.) was established, Daihatsu, GS battery, Kansai Electric Power Co., Matsushita Electric Industry Co.etc. participated in E.D.C.
1968-69, EDC made 5 electric cars based on Daihatsu Fellow Van as an experiment. these cars tested by Kansai Electric Power Co.
Photo is reprinted from the book "Denki Jidousha Jidai" by Atsusi Tokunaga 1970 , published by Perikan Co.
Daihatsu Fellow Van was the light commercial vehicle fitted 360cc 2 stroke-engine.
We salbaged original model and restored. And we found a old Daihatsu golf cart as parts donor. Then we converted into EV used golf cart's parts. Details is different from original Electric Fellow Van.

    The parts that make this E.V.

    Motor

    The motor is an Nippon Denso model ML which is a series wind type with a brush.Occasionally the brush has to be changed,but it's a very easy job.
    The motor's spec.is 14kW.


    Adapter plate & Mount

    These parts which is fixed to the motor shaft & the flywheel diverted from golf cart.


    Controller & Potbox

    Original golf cart's controler can't diverte. We used the CURTIS PMC model 1221b-7401 controller($750). throttle potbox that is operated by the original accelerator pedal control the motor through the controller was diverted from golf cart.



    Batteries

    Propulsion batteries are GS battery type ED150 for EV (12V 150Ah) which was used by electric power company's EV about 2 years. We connected 6 batteries in series. Total weight is 250kg.
